My name is Dr. Ruqqia Mir, I’m a senior consultant neurologist based at Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center Group, which is part of the Pure health.
MS is an autoimmune disease where the body’s own immune system targets the nerves in the brain and spinal cord, and as it affects the coating of the nerves, there is a disruption of the signals that connect the brain and the spinal cord with the rest of the body.
The causes of MS are multifactorial, but the most common cause is it’s believed to be the autoimmune system disorder, basically meaning that your own body is affecting your own nervous system.
But in addition, they believe that it could be partially related to your own genetics. It could be the epigenetics, the environment, the diet and much more causes of multiple sclerosis are still unknown, but it’s the, it’s thought to be multifactorial.
The most common cause is believed to be due to an autoimmune disorder, where your own immune system starts attacking the nervous system. However, genetic causes and epigenetic causes, including the environment, the diet, and much more can be involved.
