Vice Chairs

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) in the UAE is co-chaired by two visionary leaders and advocates, Her Excellency Dr Fatma Al Kaabi and His Excellency Ahmed Al Shamsi. With a shared commitment to improving the lives of people living MS, they bring a wealth of experience and purpose to the organization.

Their leadership focuses on raising awareness, providing support, and funding research initiatives aimed at finding a cure. Both co-chairs actively engage with the community, fostering a sense of hope and resilience among the MS community.

At the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, our mission is to improve the quality of life for people living with MS by leveraging cutting-edge research, global best practices, and collaborative partnerships. We are committed to advancing scientific studies aimed at slowing or stopping the progression of MS, while also addressing the gaps in care and resources through targeted support initiatives. Guided by the UAE's leadership and rooted in equity, innovation, and long-term impact, we aim to correct misconceptions, promote early diagnosis, and drive the development of advanced therapeutic interventions to ultimately find a cure.

Dr. Fatima Al Kaabi is the Director General of the Emirates Drug Establishment and the Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Bone Marrow Transplant Program at Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Center. She also serves as Vice-Chair of the UAE National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Chairperson of the UAE BIOTECH Research Center. With an MPH from Johns Hopkins University and an MSc in Cancer from University College London, Dr. Al Kaabi has held various leadership roles, including Executive Director of Emirates Genome and Health Affairs at the Abu Dhabi Executive Office. Her dedication and expertise significantly advance the UAE's healthcare sector.

His Excellency Ahmed Al Shamsi

Vice Chair

At the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, our mission is to build a supportive, inclusive community for those living with MS. Through collaboration with key institutions and the promotion of comprehensive awareness, we strive to break down barriers, provide vital resources, and ensure early, accurate diagnosis. Together, we are working towards a future where individuals with MS receive the highest standard of care and are empowered to lead fulfilling lives.

His Excellency Ahmed Taleb Al Shamsi is the Chief Executive Officer of the Emirates Foundation, a role he has held since September 2019. He is a recognized leader in youth empowerment, serving as Vice-Chair of the UAE National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Director of the National Experts Program at The Crown Prince Court Abu Dhabi. Previously, he was the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Youth Council and the first UAE UN Youth Ambassador, focusing on youth inclusion in national development. Al Shamsi holds a degree in International Relations from the American University of Washington DC and has completed post-graduate courses at prestigious institutions.
